ELEMENTS OF INDIA

FIRE

Fire is the most crucial element of the Hindu culture, a sacred part of almost every ritual in life – from birth to marriage, to moving into a new house – and also what makes you one with nature after life.

WATER

Water highlights the contrasts in India’s geographical profile – from the permafrost in the Himalayas which give way to the origin of the holy river Ganges, which is a shrine in itself, to countless other rivers, lakes and beaches, to the rainforests of the North-East, to the arid deserts of Rajasthan where people have to walk many miles each day to fetch pots-full of water.

EARTH

With her highly varied topography, India presents Earth in all its avatars – from mountain ranges to endless grasslands, from lifeless deserts to dense jungles with sprawling wildlife, and everything from rural farmlands to sprawling metropolitans. The Earth is worshipped in many ways.

AIR

The Air carries such a variety of scents across the Indian cities that it’s hard to explain. The pristine, rare air of the north gives way to the dry winds of central and western India, which are loaded with colourful kites during the festival of Makar Sakranti in mid January. The west and south carry the salty smell of the ocean and the scent of spices and a thousand varieties of food will intoxicate you wherever you go.

SKY

India will offer every experience imaginable under the Sky, from tranquil spiritual getaways to the hustle of the city, from clear skies with a billion stars visible to the naked eye to clear blue skies merging in perceivably with the ocean.
